A global campaign, organised by EARTHDAY.ORG, Earth Day encourages individuals, organisations and wider communities to take action to protect the planet.

Like K2, EARTHDAY.ORG  believe in the power of collective action, and use this annual celebration as an opportunity to call for Earth advocates around the world to step up their efforts to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and preserve our ecosystems.

For Earth Day 2025, K2’s global Sustainability Champions were tasked with organising activities and initiatives for the K2 teams in their respective offices. From a park clean-up in Pittsburgh to a plant-based lunch in Paris, a Botanical Garden visit in Bucharest to sustainable commutes in Sydney, K2 employees were invited to take part in a wide variety of events around the world. Whilst the activities themselves differed, the key themes were the same: sustainability, collaboration, the need for action.

In recognition of the vital role that employee education and regular communication play in raising awareness of sustainability issues, K2’s emissions measurement and reduction strategy partner, Furthr, were engaged to share an Earth Day update with K2’s global teams. The presentation that was shared included a back to basics look at the climate crisis, the greenhouse effect and the aims of Net Zero, before offering valuable insight about K2’s own Net Zero strategy and unveiling details of a new tool available to K2 employees, enabling them to measure their personal footprint.

“Global campaigns like Earth Day offer a valuable opportunity for us to pause, reflect, and share progress internally. They are a chance to spark meaningful conversations, encourage sustainable habits, and strengthen our sense of global community.

Our Sustainability Champions are ambassadors of positive change and we’re so grateful for all that they do to help build employee engagement amongst our K2 teams around the world. They devised another diverse programme of Earth Day events this year, all underscored by a common purpose –the protection of planet Earth.”

Linda continues:

“Ahead of Earth Day we also asked every member of the K2 Family to consider making a personal pledge for actions they planned to take, or changes they planned to make, to be more sustainable on Earth Day and beyond. Our commitment to environmental sustainability extends beyond one day, and it’s important that we keep the conversation going, and continue to remind our global team that seemingly small, localised efforts can collectively create global momentum.”

More about K2’s Sustainability Programme and ongoing initiatives will be shared within our 2024 Sustainability Report, which will be released shortly.
