After a final delicious breakfast cooked specially by chefs brought in from the east of Pokhara, the volunteers rehearsed and performed the legendary ‘hi-ho’ song from the Snow White film. Credit to Jewels for the great choreography!

After our Oscar-winning performance, we picked up our tools and it was back to the grind, continuing to paint the interior and exterior of the school.

After lunch, with the painting of the school complete, a special thank-you ceremony was held in our honour. This saw the team presented with certificates and flower garlands, and a special trophy engraved with ‘a token of love’ given in commemoration of the K2 Foundation.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the volunteers piled back on the bus and headed through the hills for two hours back to Pokhara – with a short panic pit stop as a large stone got stuck in the bus wheels!

The appreciation to see the hotel lobby had never been so great, as the promise of clean hair and a proper bed for the night awaited!

Today we started off our acclimatisation trek at -10 degrees, and shivering up the hill!

We headed on an uphill trek until the top of Dingboche and today we really felt the altitude with the last bit of the uphill as it took a huge amount of effort to reach the top.

Whilst heading up the sun came over the mountains and gave us a warm and welcoming hug.

At the top (4657m above sea level) we captured the most amazing views and enjoyed some warm mango juice whilst taking in the amazing scenery.

Our team mates that fell ill have been recovering really well, and although they are still not feeling the best, they are giving each and every moment their all! True resilience!

Upon return to our accommodation, we enjoyed our lunch with stunning views, and had some “off” time where most of us chose to rest up for our next day out, where we will be heading to Loboche (4928m above sea level).

Support the K2 Foundation

The charitable initiatives that the Foundation funds focus on helping the children within those communities, children whose futures are bleak or uncertain. Often, the support provided takes the form of education, as this gives children the chance to develop skillsets which can increase the number of opportunities available to them as they grow up.
