We are delighted to announce that we have now raised over £100,000 for our official UK charity partner, Rainbow Trust.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity supports families who have a child aged 0 – 18 years with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Over the last 10 years we have raised approximately £109,259, enough to provide over 4,200 hours of support for families with a seriously ill child.

Executive Business Director, and lead for global fundraising, Richard Rutledge comments:

“Our longstanding relationship with Rainbow Trust is something we are immensely proud of here at K2 and we’re thrilled to have reached this significant milestone. The work that Rainbow Trust do, helping families to face and make the most of each new day, really is incredible, and to be able to contribute much needed funds to enable them to provide this invaluable, 24/7 emotional and practical support, is so important.

This year is our 20th birthday year so it’s the perfect time to be celebrating partnerships and taking stock of what we’ve achieved to date – we are excited to work with the Rainbow Trust fundraising team on even more projects and events throughout the remainder of 2022 and beyond.

We have recently been lucky enough to have one of Rainbow Trust’s support workers, Nicki, visit our office and talk about a ‘typical’ working week. Hearing first-hand the type of support Rainbow Trust teams provide to families on a daily basis was definitely a source of great inspiration and has spurred our team on to start thinking about how we can make future fundraising challenges even bigger and better– here’s to the next £100,000!”

Since partnering a decade ago, K2 have taken part in a number of active challenges for Rainbow Trust, such as the Kilimanjaro Klimb in 2017 and Race to the King in 2021.

During lockdown, we were quick to pivot and find a way to continue supporting Rainbow Trust from home, by organising our own virtual events. Across our UK team, we accumulated 8,611m in elevation gain when we virtually climbed the second highest mountain in the world; K2! These virtual events not only helped to raise vital funds but they also brought K2 teams together during a difficult period, boosting morale by creating a common goal and a real sense of achievement.

In addition to physical pursuits, we have held a number of less strenuous in-office fundraising initiatives, such as bake sales and raffles. We have also attended many of Rainbow Trust’s own events, including their Race Night and annual golf day. Most recently, we attended their 35th Anniversary Ball where we supported their auction and pledged £5,000 towards supporting families in the month of May.

Katherine Brooks, Corporate and Community Fundraising Manager at Rainbow Trust says:

“We are so grateful to everyone at K2 Corporate Mobility for their dedication to support Rainbow Trust over the years and we want to say a huge congratulations on this substantial milestone. £100,000 is a wonderful achievement and the staff and senior leadership team should be immensely proud for making a positive difference to the lives of families affected by serious childhood illness.

I want to say a huge thank you to K2 Corporate Mobility for their recent donation and to every staff member who has participated in fundraising events or volunteered over the years. Long-term partnerships like these are invaluable and we look forward to working more closely with the whole team in the coming months.”
