We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something.

What does the Nepal Trip involve?

On 26th November, 24 K2 employees from across the globe will fly out to Nepal to take part in an expedition and volunteering programme, the company’s main charitable initiative for 2023. Upon landing in Nepal, the K2 team will split into two groups. The first group will embark on the Everest Base Camp Trek, whilst the second group will head into a number of remote villages surrounding Pokhara, a city in central Nepal, to help refurbish local schools.

What is the purpose of the trip?

Through the K2 Foundation, a charity which supports children around the world whose futures are bleak or uncertain, K2 are in the process of rebuilding a dilapidated school in a São Paulo favela. Whilst the rebuild is now well underway – click here to watch a progress update video – more funds are required to enable construction to continue. The Nepal Trip is a major fundraising venture: each member of the K2 Nepal Team is requesting sponsorship for the trip, with the aim of raising a combined total of £200,000 which will be channelled directly into the rebuild of the São Paulo school.

How can I find out more about the trip?

We have just launched the Nepal Trip Hub, a centralised source of information, updates and team interviews. From detailed schedules to a set of Team Top Trumps which will introduce you to each team member, setting out their personal motivators and relevant skillsets/experience, the Hub is your go-to source for all things related to the trip. It will also include live feeds from our main social media channels, through which we will be sharing live updates on progress and achievements as they are sent through from our walkers and workers on the ground.

How can I support?

The simplest way to support the K2 Nepal Team and therefore the rebuild of the São Paulo school is to donate to the K2 Foundation. Any amount, however small and insignificant you may deem it to be, will be truly valued and will help us in our effort to improve the future prospects of generations of local children. In addition to donating, you can also support by helping us to spread the word about the trip, the school and the Foundation. Engage with our posts on social media, visit the Nepal Trip Hub as often as you can, and speak to your network about what we are doing and why we are doing it. The more people we can reach, the more donations we are likely to receive, and so the more hope and happiness we can strive to bring to children who are growing up in a world very different to our own.

The happiness of the children is inspiring, a little bit overwhelming and extremely humbling. Knowing that we have the potential to take that inherent happiness and build on it is truly wonderful.”
