Our unique and enviable company culture is often cited as one of the best things about working for K2. It’s something our clients and partners value too.

Over the last 20 years, co-owners Nick Plummer and Richard Rutledge have been committed to carefully cultivating a culture of collaboration and innovation, that offers employees the perfect blend of autonomy and camaraderie.

It is people that make a culture, so attracting the right individuals to join our global teams is crucial. K2’s positive reputation in the industry has led to a talent retention record that far surpasses the industry average.

Finding the right fit: talent attraction, retention and employee engagement

We’re about people and relationships, it’s at the heart of what we do, and that’s why our Kinetic strategy places a core focus on people and culture. We continue to strive to make K2 the best possible place to work it can be, through the development of new initiatives and the ambitious aim of achieving at least 95% employee satisfaction by 2026, the end of our Kinetic business plan period.

Recognition and reward are central to our people strategy and we have recently launched two new initiatives that demonstrate our commitment to this. By recognising the hard-work of K2 employees at all levels of the business, they feel empowered and supported to perform to the best of their abilities.

We support our people in a multitude of ways, beyond reward and recognition, offering training and development opportunities, travel and international relocation prospects and clear pathways for internal progression, alongside the chance to become part of a company that’s proud of its close-knit, family culture.

Our early 2022 employee pulse survey revealed that 83% of employees felt that they were made to feel like a vital component within their team or business function and 92% of employees would recommend working at K2. We hope that these results will continue to improve year on year.

K2’s KINETIC Conference

As part of the company’s 20th birthday celebrations, K2 organised their first all-company conference, and invited all of K2’s global employees (even those in their first week with the business!) to come together in Barcelona for a three-day event, centred on celebrating the K2 community, encouraging collaboration and further enhancing our culture.

Over the course of the conference, attendees got to spend time with colleagues from around the world and took part in team building activities together, attended celebratory dinners, and heard key company updates from a series of stakeholders.

Alongside the celebrations and the more formal business focused conference, there were also wellbeing activities organised, including morning yoga and an e-bike city cycle, plus an opportunity for attendees to explore the city before heading home.

K2’s Global CEO, Nick Plummer, comments:“To have the K2 Family in one place, served as the perfect reminder of what a special, global team we are. As we continue to grow and evolve, it’s important that we don’t lose the essence of K2: a unique culture, based on our founding principles.

I’m often asked how I would sum up life at K2, and it’s something that’s incredibly hard to do but, I think that the KINETIC Conference film is a powerful visual tool that goes some way to bringing the K2 culture to life.”

If a picture paints a thousand words, then a video is worth a million…watch the footage from our KINETIC Conference, to get a flavour of what it’s really like to work for K2.

because it’s personal.
