Nepal Expedition Walkers Day 9

Today we set off on our trek from Dingboche (4040m) to Loboche (4950m above sea level).

We set off on a long gradual path where we saw amazing views and sceneries!

After a rocky path, we finally reached our lunch destination at Thukla Fast Food & Bakery (4620m).

Thereafter we headed on a steep ascend and felt the struggle as we all had to keep our minds strong and in the game. We finally reached the top of the ascend and had the most beautiful view of the mountains and prayer flags.

We continued on the last stretch, which felt like ages, and finally started seeing glimpses of snow along the pathway.

The one thing that we learnt today, is the Nepalese timeline is much different to the “normal” timelines. If they say 10 more minutes, you can be guaranteed it will be 30 minutes or more!

Finally reaching our destination, we sat around the heater and enjoyed some warm tea!

The volunteers were overjoyed this morning to wake up in a warm hotel room and a comfy bed…no more tents! A quick breakfast was enjoyed by all, before the group headed out for a mini trek of their own.

The destination for today’s trek was the Shanti Stupa, Pokhara’s white peace pagoda situated up in the hills. The trek began with a short boat ride across the lake, with some opting for a paddle boat and others in a rather unsteady rowing boat!

After hopping out of the boat, a long and steep walk lay ahead, with rocky steps leading up to the pagoda. The climb was tough but the views were worth every second, as the volunteers got to experience a Birds Eye view of the city of Pokhara from the stunning top of the temple.

After a light lunch and as the rain set in, the volunteers shivered their way back to the hotel to get packed and ready for project site 2 to commence in the morning.

Support the K2 Foundation

The charitable initiatives that the Foundation funds focus on helping the children within those communities, children whose futures are bleak or uncertain. Often, the support provided takes the form of education, as this gives children the chance to develop skillsets which can increase the number of opportunities available to them as they grow up.
