Chinese New Year is an important date for many people across the globe, celebrated by billions worldwide. It is more than just a cultural event, however. For businesses, particularly those with a presence in China or the wider APAC region, the holiday is seen as the optimum moment to consider progress, set goals and make plans for the year ahead.

According to the Chinese zodiac, 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake, a rare occurrence in the Chinese calendar, and one that symbolises growth and transformation. The Wood Snake combines the Snake’s inherent intelligence with the Wood element’s creative energy; a formidable coupling of characteristics.

On the timing of the Spring Festival, Managing Director, APAC, Paul Barrett reflects:

“With K2’s recent expansion seeing the business open a new office in Shanghai earlier this month, this year’s festivities hold a special significance for us.

Chinese New Year is an opportunity to celebrate new beginnings and the launch of K2 China signals the start of an exciting new chapter for K2, one which reflects our commitment not only to long-term growth in the APAC market, but also to continuously evolving, staying agile and responding to emerging trends or shifts in customer behaviour.”

Taking a look forward, he adds:

“K2 continues to take a measured, and deliberate approach to our expansion, in order to help us achieve sustainable growth; growth which will not ever see us compromise our organisational values or service delivery standards. We understand the need to take the time to make calculated and considered moves; moves which align fully with our Kinetic business strategy and enable us to capitalise on emerging opportunities.

With the Year of the Wood Snake setting the tone for transformation and prosperity, we look forward to forging new connections, strengthening existing partnerships and embracing the dynamic energy of the APAC region in 2025.”
