In just under two weeks, K2 will be taking on a new ultramarathon challenge in an attempt to raise money for the K2 Foundation – our new ethical, accountable and transparent fundraising facility.
Alongside our valued service partner, SITU, K2 team members will be taking on Race to the Stones – a 100km ultramarathon which takes participants on an unforgettable route, finishing at Avebury Stone Circle, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The race, which will take place over the 8th – 9th July weekend, will begin in the small village of Lewknor and conclude 100km later in Avebury. Organised by events experts Threshold Sports, the trail will take participants through terrains of woodland, riverside and ridge trails, and past areas rich in history and breath-taking scenery.
Unlike previous years’ events, Race to the Stones will offer participants two distances: 50km on either Saturday or Sunday, or 100km over two days with an overnight at a camp site – a couple of our team members are even taking on the race non-stop!
Although a great endurance challenge for our team members, the ultra-marathon has a higher purpose; to raise funds for our K2 Foundation. Set up at the start of 2023, the Foundation aims to support the future of children around the world, in particular within the regions that we operate. Alongside a number of K2-founded projects, such as the building of a new school in Brazil, the Foundation also supports several charities, such as the Rainbow Trust, Naomi’s House & Jacksplace and the Matt Hampson Foundation.
