The Spring Social, which has taken place at former Midlands Bank headquarters-turned-hotel, The Ned, for the last three years, is one of K2’s largest annual events, and offers global mobility professionals the opportunity to network with peers in a relaxed setting.

Following arrival drinks, guests at the event were welcomed by K2’s Chief Commercial Officer, Rob McFarland, James Marshall, Global Marketing Director and Miranda Barras-Smith, Global Account Director, before being treated to live music from pianist and singer, James J.

A particular talking point throughout the evening was the eye-catching décor, with around 75 giant floral installations positioned around the event space. A mix of pre-existing flowers and custom creations were provided by London-based paper flower artist, Juliet Carr from Paperpoms UK.

A nod to K2’s commitment to circularity and sustainability, the custom flowers were made from end-of-life packing materials from K2 clients’ assignee moves, donated by household goods partner, Premier Squad, with additional, intricate details crafted using lanyard ribbons from previous events. In order to minimise waste, flower centres and smaller flowers for tabletops were made from the cut offs from the main petals.

Talking about the design concept for the event, K2’s Global Marketing Manager, Shelley Jarlett-Hill, reflects:

“We wanted to create an immersive experience for our guests from the moment they arrived; a burst of colour and joy, something that would be visually impactful and signal the arrival of spring.

Springtime is synonymous with new beginnings, and we have been blown away by what Juliet has managed to create from old packing materials. Boxes from the moves of our clients’ relocating employees have been transformed into beautiful blooms and given a new lease of life.”

Shelley adds:

“A big thank you goes to Premier Squad’s Non-Executive Director, Tracie O’Sullivan, Director of Operations, James Annis, and the rest of the team for supplying the materials needed to make this project happen.”

Group Managing Director, Jo Wakeham, comments on the success of the event:

“Our Spring Socials are always very well attended and received, and this year’s event was no exception. It means a great deal to us that clients value the opportunity to further extend their network and build relationships with likeminded mobility professionals.”

Jo continues:

“These events are also perfect for celebrating our ongoing partnerships and the progress made towards achieving our joint goals, all in a wonderful setting. Thanks to everyone who attends and makes these events so special.”
