Following increased volumes of activity in Latin America, K2 took the decision to open a new entity in São Paulo, Brazil, in April 2021, to act as a hub out of which to support client operations for the region from a local position.
Patricia Tavares was appointed as Country Director, bringing with her 20+ years of global mobility experience within the financial and consumer goods sectors. With a genuine passion for the GM industry, and the expertise and cultural awareness required to manage the complexity of delivering relocation services within the LATAM market, Patricia has led the K2 Brazil team from strength to strength in the 18 months since its inception.
Patricia comments:
“It has been a challenging, demanding and amazing experience to be leading the “K2 Gateway to LATAM!” I am very proud to be part of K2 and to share that we have increased awareness of K2 in the region at an incredible speed. One of our first steps was to reach out to existing clients in their native languages, to offer local expertise, making them feel comfortable and reassured that the K2 Brazil team were on hand to provide the high quality service that K2 has a reputation for delivering!”
In recognition of the achievements of the last year and a half, the team hosted a special event at Lugar 166, a dedicated event space within the Vila Olímpia, on the evening of 22nd September.
Patricia continues, “This was our first in person event and, I’m glad to say, a total success! Many clients, partners and friends were there with us, and it was a pleasure to have them! All we can do is reaffirm: K2 Brazil is here to stay.”
The September soirée provided attendees with the chance to hear the latest updates from Patricia and her team, and to speak with other key K2 stakeholders from around the globe, with K2 CEO, Nick Plummer, Americas Managing Director, Phil Hunt, and Global Marketing Director, James Marshall, travelling to São Paulo to mark the occasion.
With many of K2’s DSP and HHG partners in attendance, alongside top professionals from within the global mobility industry in Latin America, the event offered a unique opportunity to network, engage in peer-to-peer discussion and knowledge-sharing and, of course, to party in true Brazilian style!
Though they may be the newest addition to the K2 Family, K2 Brazil have already made their mark locally and will continue to be an essential piece of the puzzle in K2’s journey of growth without compromise, as they continue to evolve and add significant value for clients in the region.
Acknowledging the important role that Brazil has played in the growth of K2 Americas, Phil Hunt reflects:
“Good old fashioned boots on the ground has always been a prerequisite for K2. There is no substitute for local knowledge, experience and the ability to have “eyes on” when supporting our customers. Blend in the ability to converse in the assignees mother tongue and you have a winning formula for a K2 office.
I recall the early days especially, but even up to today, the challenges you face relocating people in and out of LATAM are very real. Now having our gateway to LATAM situated in São Paulo I’m not saying they don’t still exist but we are equipping ourselves to respond, increase our agility and add true value to the process. How we have managed to blend the US team and team in Brazil is testament to a shared desire to achieve that goal.
Whilst delayed by COVID, in true K2 resilience, we were far from deterred, and albeit 18 months late I could not have been happier with our opening soirée. Patricia’s exceptionally strong reputation in the industry assured an attendance beyond all expectation. It was the perfect platform to showcase to clients, prospects and partners alike what makes us different – a vibrant, committed and fun team committed to service excellence. I could not have been more proud and genuinely excited at what is in store for the Americas region.”
