On Thursday 7th November, K2 hosted the first session of our new webinar series: Across Africa with K2.
The Across Africa series has been designed to address the opportunities and challenges being faced by mobility professionals in the Africa region. Hosted by Johannesburg-based Client Development Executive, Eden Roux, the webinars will take place on a quarterly basis and will cover a host of relevant topics, offering insights from K2 experts around the globe.
The series kicked off with a session focused on Global Mobility Trends & Policy Review. After welcome and introductions from Eden, K2’s Head of Global Mobility Advisory, Taryn Whitfield, who led this webinar, provided attendees with an overall, high-level view of the GM position today, before delving into the development of policy suites and the various factors and considerations driving the creation of policies. Taryn provided an overview of K2’s approach to policy review and rounded off her presentation with a snapshot of some of the current global mobility industry hot topics, including technology, talent alignment and sustainability. At the end of the webinar, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in insightful discussion.
Commenting on why the webinar topic resonates with GM professionals, Taryn says:
“Unsurprisingly, many companies are looking to review or enhance their policy offerings. GM teams remain under pressure to balance cost with agility and flexibility, enhancing or maintaining a great employee experience, managing risk and remaining competitive.
Whether you’re a large multinational organisation looking to review well established global mobility policies, or a smaller company starting to expand your global reach and develop your programme, it is important to consider your organisation culture, understand the move drivers across the business, and align the GM strategy to HR and business strategies.
Interactive sessions like this one are a great opportunity for GM professionals to talk about their experiences and challenges, to network and share insights with one another.”
On the success of the first webinar, Eden adds:
“This was a fantastic first session. Taryn’s presentation was informative, thought-provoking, and well received by attendees. There was a great level of engagement from participants, and we were able to get a steer on future topics of interest.
We want to create a virtual community, whereby participants feel empowered to share their experiences, openly and honestly, and learn from each other, and we used this first session as an opportunity to lay the groundwork for this.”
