Meet Richard, Managing Director, Africa & Middle East

My career within the relocation industry began in 2000, when I moved to London and set up a UK based moving company.

Since joining K2 in 2011, my major focus has been driving the company’s expansion into the EMEA region forward, taking the lead on setting up our African and Middle East entities. I have a breadth of DSP and HHG experience, as well as extensive knowledge of operating in challenging location.

My ongoing priority is to enhance and grow our presence further, expanding our service offering and maintaining the K2 global delivery standard and outstanding reputation within this vibrant, exciting and energetic market.

I joined K2 in 2011 but my relationship with the company started long before that, having previously owned a UK-based international relocation company and worked as a vendor as part of K2’s Global Accredited Partner Programme.

I was drawn to work at K2 as I felt that the culture, energy, drive and agility of the organisation was aligned with my own entrepreneurial ethos.

Hailing from South Africa originally, the opportunity to move home and develop the Africa arm of the K2 business, was an exciting prospect. I’m proud that we’re now well established in the region and have been successfully providing global services for international K2 clients from this location for over a decade. I also oversaw the opening of K2 Dubai in 2016, and our activity in this region continues to grow from strength to strength.

I’m a strong believer in the importance of service excellence and customer satisfaction, a value that sits at the heart of everything we do at K2. Fundamentally, it’s about building strong relationships for the long-term, delivering on promises, and working to achieve excellent outcomes for our clients and assignees.

As well as being a Board member and part of the steering committee, I am also proud to co-chair the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with my colleague Jo Wakeham [link]. The ELT plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the ‘People & Culture’ pillar of the Kinetic strategy through the delivery of employee-centric projects that have a truly global impact.
