Last week, inspired by Earth Day, K2’s Sustainability Champions co-ordinated a programme of events across our global offices. This week-long celebration of sustainability kicked off on Earth Day (22nd April) with an update from our Global ESG & Compliance Team.
Led by Global Head of ESG & Compliance, Linda Rafferty, the Team provided K2 colleagues around the world with details of the latest departmental developments, as well as offering insights around industry challenges and significant changes to the global sustainability landscape, alongside touching on K2’s support of Earth Day and the Planet vs Plastics theme.
On the importance of internal communication and employee engagement Linda comments:
“Employee engagement plays a vital role in the success of our Sustainability Programme. As an organisation that spans 9 countries, we are conscious that a concerted effort needs to be made to bring our global team together on a regular basis to offer ESG education, and to inspire them to champion change”.
Earth Day was the perfect opportunity to share our progress with K2 Worldwide. Across two calls, to accommodate the different time zones, we were joined by over 200 team members from our 12 offices. It’s important that our teams understand the actions K2 are taking and have the opportunity to be part of the ongoing conversations around what more we can be doing, as individuals, as local teams, and as a global organisation.”
Linda continues:
“From nature walks to lunch’n’learns, tree planting to plant-based potluck lunches, it was brilliant to see the variety of events that our global Sustainability Champions organised last week, in honour of Earth Day, but K2’s commitment to sustainability and the planet extends well beyond one week. There is so much work to be done in the corporate relocation sector and we can’t do it alone.
The 2024 Earth Day theme of Planet vs Plastics really resonates with K2, and the aims of EarthDay.org align with our own ongoing efforts to minimise our environmental impact through the programme of plastic reduction that we launched in collaboration with our supply chain last year.”
