Meet Nadia, Senior Relocation Manager
In comparison to many of my lovely follow colleagues around the globe, I am still fairly “new” to the global mobility industry, with just over 5 years’ experience.
K2 has given me the platform to grow immensely since I joined in 2018, honoured enough to now hold a more senior role within the K2 Cape Town Office overseeing the day-to-day operations for a large team, training and development, managing small client accounts, and still working actively on files.

A more detailed description of my journey
After studying education and psychology, I took a complete turn in direction and ended up in the finance sector which I worked in for round about 4 years collectively.
Looking for a new opportunity, I found a Facebook post advertising a position in finance at K2 Cape Town, 1700km away from where I lived at the time. My interview was held over Skype, and after my second interview I got the golden call advising that I was awarded the position.
I packed up my bags and made my way to Cape Town, taking on the role as a finance assistant. Our Cape Town office was still small at the time, with only 4 relocation managers. One of the relocation managers resigned which resulted in the need to have someone assist whilst they were looking for a replacement. I happily jumped at the opportunity to assist as best I could until a replacement was found. Working with only figures for most of my professional career, I was quite anxious and excited to now have to work with living people, whilst hardly speaking English at the time!
Needless to say, I ended up becoming the “replacement” on a permanent basis. I had to take myself out of my comfort zone and I absolutely loved every second of it. This is true even more so today. Given that I had a lot to catch up on, having no prior experience in the industry, I was driven to be a part of every project and take advantage of every opportunity there was to learn more about Global Mobility. You can achieve anything if you just set your mind to it, leading into my favourite quote, “A ship in a harbour is safe but that is not what ships are built for”.
I am incredibly thankful for my education and psychology background, something that I still utilise to this day, especially when trying to provide my team with the necessary tools to further develop their skills and support them in their growth at K2.
I see myself as a support for my team more than anything else, and place high importance on creating a safe and uplifting work environment for all. I truly believe that people and culture is what makes our company so incredibly special.
Fast forward to today, I try to be involved and contribute the best I can in a few different areas across the business, from commercial to client management, relocation to technology, to training and development.
K2 has allowed me to grow personally and professionally, not even to mention the priceless friendships that I have formed with colleagues both locally and globally. I am truly honoured to be a part of such an exquisite company such as K2 Corporate Mobility.
